Welcome to the pictures section! Here are some pictures of the temple. Click on the thumbnails to see larger images. They really are quite large, so please be patient if they take a while to load. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the central focus of the temple. It is a papier mache statue of Artemis that I built specifically for this space. It stands somewhere around 8 feet high (I haven't measured it, so I don't know exactly). I'm not an artist, so it's not quite what I envisioned, but it serves its purpose. The first picture is an older one, taken when the temple was first established. The next two are current pictures.
These next two pictures are of the altar that stands before the statue. On it is a small oil lamp, a cesner, and some insence to burn as an offering. These objects, as with most others, move around as necessary when altar space is needed for ritual.
This is a picture of the offering table. Here I keep my sacrificial knife, hidden in a box I made for that purpose, a basket of barley (well, a basket with a jar of barley in it, since I get moths frequently), and a tripod cauldron so we can light a sacrificial fire indoors.
These pictures show two parts of a bookshelf. The top shelf holds pictures of Artemis in a few of Her many aspects, and the shelf beneath holds an offering bowl (for non-combustibles, or offerings one does not want to burn) and some other items given to Artemis. The little bears (and one pig) were part of the 2005 Mounikhia ritual held at the temple, wherein participants each dedicated one of the tiny clay creatures to Artemis and asked for Her protection.
This picture shows a table that holds miscellaneous ritual items, images, and offerings. Items are so frequently moved and added, it's almost impossible to keep this picture up to date, but it can at least give you an idea of what the table is like.
These last pictures show a torch I mounted on the wall to adorn the temple, as well as a small shelf I made to hold the extra wicks (and perhaps other things later).
