Each Catalean temple is autonomos, so its identity is largely determined by its neokoros (temple keeper). Is there someone in charge of Cataleos? Each Catalean temple is run by its own neokoros. Are there Catalean priestesses or priests? No. Cataleos is not involved with determining who can or can't be a priestess or priest. Cataleos recognizes neokoroi, people who own and care for a temple. These individuals may or may not also be priestesses or priests. The method of assigning clergy is left to the determination of each temple. What makes a temple Catalean? There are three elements that all Catalean temples share. The first, of course, is Artemis. Second is the Artemisia, a festival held in honor of Artemis. Third is the Epangeliai, promises the Catalean neokoroi make to Artemis and to each other. Read the Epangeliai. What is the Artemisia? The Artemisia is a festival of Artemis traditionally celebrated on the 6th day of the 6th month. The Artemisia celebrates the personal connections each of us can make with Artemis. By definition the Artemisia is observed in whatever way each individual finds most appropriate, so each temple may celebrate the Artemisia very differently, but the underlying concept is the same.
