How Cataleos Began

The Temple of Artemis at Cataleos began in 2005 as a semi-public sacred space dedicated to Artemis located near Central Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After four years of local celebrations and online activities, interest arose in creating more temples. A pair of friends put their heads together and came up with the alliance of temples that is Cataleos today.

Today's Cataleos

Today Cataleos has become an alliance of temples dedicated to Artemis known as the Catalean Temples. The alliance is named after the original Temple of Artemis at Cataleos, and each individual Catalean temple is named and autonomously run by its own neokoros. The Catalean temples are united by the Epangeliai, promises that the Catalean neokoroi make to Artemis and to each other. Read the Epangeliai. Each temple honors the ancient Greek goddess Artemis and celebrates the Artemisia, but the method of worship is up to the individual neokoroi. See a list of Catalean temples. Read the FAQ.
